What to expect at a visit
Feeding Consultations:
During each visit I will go over any medical history, infant/s weight & birth information as well as discuss any immediate questions you may have. If necessary a breast/chest & infant oral exam may be done.
I will observe you breastfeeding and assess how best to support you.
The baby will be weighed before the feeding & after the feeding and in between if needed.
Together we will discuss & design an appropriate care plan that works for you and schedule a follow up if needed.
A care plan & follow up information will be sent directly to you and your provider electronically.
Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding Classes:
During our one on one class we will cover lactation from pregnancy to weaning, pumping & bottle feeding. We will discuss the mechanics & stages of lactation, feeding techniques, positions, infant feeding behaviors, as well as answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding feeding.
Prenatal Assessments:
We will discuss any health factors that may affect lactation (e.g. Endocrine issues - thyroid - PCOS, breast/chest augmentation, relactating or inducing lactation.) and any concerns you may have with feeding your baby.
How to prepare for a visit
A link will be sent to your email to fill out any forms that are needed for the visit. Forms include: Consent for visit, initial concerns and reason for the visit, maternal & infant medical history, and birth information. Please make sure these are submitted the day before the visit. This will allow me sufficient time to review your needs beforehand, allowing us more time in person.
Please provide any referral notes from your provider when filling out your intake forms.
Please try to plan on feeding your baby no sooner than an 1 to 1.5 hours before our visit. Ideally I would like to observe a feeding about 15/30 min after my arrival.
Please have the baby in an outfit that is easy to remove. A diaper & blanket works well for this.
Make a list of any questions you may have to make sure we can go over them at the time of the visit.
I encourage partner/support person to be at the consultations. Information is beneficial for both parents and support person/direct care givers.
Please, no extended family and visitors at the time of visit.
Please place pets in another room or outdoors.
